TATCOT graduates are recognised as "Wheelchair technologists"

The International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) recently evaluated the Wheelchair Technologist Training Center (WTTC) at TATCOT and have officially recognised the course. It has been categorised as academically equivalent to the Category II Lower Limb Prosthetics and Orthotics Technologist Certificate Courses.
The Assessors were very impressed with the WTTC and reported that the staff were found to be very enthusiastic and the course well managed and taught. It was reported that the students feel the course is providing them with good information and skills.
The evaluators also recommended that the ISPO Board give retrospective recognition to the course for the years 2000/2001, 2001/2002, 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 and this was approved by the Board this week.
The qualification as a 'Wheelchair Technologist' is now recognised by ISPO.

This edifying message was brought to us by Christine Cornick,  Africa Programme Director at Motivation. Congratulations to the entire TATCOT Team and all the graduates, among them the LOREWO Team members Silvanus Ndjambula and Ismael Hamudenga in Namibia and Emmanuel Majole in Zimbabwe. LOREWO students at Tatcot this year are Monica Ndlovu and Alison Magoto, both expected to graduate in August 2005.
